Week 8 Reading Reflection

1.I was really surprised by the whole section on “Fighting Terrorism”! I couldn’t believe it all! The idea that somebody can fight terrorism with Finance, especially in a day when terrorism is very hot, is very exciting.

2.I had trouble understanding the difference between Rule 505 and Rule 506. The headlines for each seemed very self-explanatory, but then the Rule 506 mentioned “offerings between $500,000 and $5 million.” This makes them seem like the same thing!

3.I really would like to ask the author about the difference between Rule 505 and Rule 506. This is just so confusing and I am very curious about it! Also, I would like to get the author’s opinion on what he thinks the most successful IPO in history has been, so I can get a grasp on history a little bit.

4.I truly disagree with the disadvantages of debt financing, specifically the first disadvantage, about the regular interest payments. This seems to me like a comparative advantage of financing, as other ways of financing have much more brutal ways of repayment than simply regular payments.

Half-way Reflection

The main behavior that i have developed in this course is vital to my college career. Because there are no test, I have learned to develop skills that make me a productive human every single day. This class just has an unusual amount of assignments but is completely fair in the grading, and requirements per assignment. Because of this, I go on my computer for at least one hour everyday just to catch up with all the work I must do.

There hasn't been a true moment of me simply giving up. Although there has been times where i was completely lazy and decided not to turn in assignments I still am on track to get an A in this class. Yellowdig will most likely save my grade and because of it I am grateful

1. Work Everyday
2. Dont be scared of any assignments
3. Have fun in this class

Week 7 Reading Reflection

I was very surprised by how I hadn't paid much attention to market segmentation before reading this article. I found it quite interesting how the market branches off into so many different directions and how challenging it is to tap all possible resources.
I was confused by the fact that the author of the article didn't discuss the fact in great detail how it's nearly impossible to predict the market and how challenging it can be for businesses to see trends in advance of them happening.
I'd ask the author to further discuss some of the charts in the piece in greater detail because I had a little trouble following them. I would also ask him to delve into predictive practices and how we can use past knowledge and future predictions to analyze the market.
There was nothing that I necessarily disagreed about in the article and I was very intrigued by the analysis that backed up all of the information provided.

Elevator Pitch No. 2

https://youtu.be/clQz-jOgMzA

My idea has not changed much since the interviews. I always get a consistent answer of 30-45 minutes and $3 extra delivery charge. One thing i have reflected on since my last pitch was explaining better in detail my idea in a shorter amount of words. This way people can understand what my message is and still understand what i am selling.

Customer Interviews No. 3

I plan on asking the same questions as I had done earlier to get more feedback on my company

How fast would you expect your chipotle?

How much would you pay extra for delivery and tip?

Would you use an app?

Would you buy chipotle with charges?

How would you improve on this service.

Watch for interviews

After these sets of interviews it has been made completely clear what my objective is. Its clear that I would have to make an App for this company and the expected time and extra money has been the same for ALL 15 INTERVIEWS. People are willing to pay $3 extra and wait 30-45 minutes for their food. improvements to be seen will be working directly with chipotle to sell the idea or co run with them. This would allow me to make a lot of base money for my idea or just have chipotle help me run it.

Week 6 Reading Reflection

1.     The biggest surprise about the reading was by far the amount of strategy used in order to determine competition. Its crazy to think of all of these different things when going into a brand new market.
2.     The part of the reading that was not explained very well was the section on influencing balance. It merely states that a company must come up with an offensive strategy but still remain in the balance. Yet it doesn’t explain at all anything else.
3.     The first question I would ask the author is about what different offensive strategies would lead to the best result while still staying in the balance because as I stated earlier it was not explained well.  The second question I would ask is why multifaceted rivalry has a huge debate about it even 50 years from the 1960 HBR article.

4.     The one place I would say the author was mistaken was the park about barriers to entry. I do believe that many of these aspect should be considered but if you did have a market changing idea I would believe that a lot of these aspects would not apply

Idea Napkin No. 1

1. Some of my talents would be selling this company well to other since i have a lot of prior experience in speech and debate. My major in finance should be helpful in understanding how to properly run this company. In the future I could easily see my idea become successful in Gainesville since chipotle is one of the few items not yet possible to order.

2. First if the customer doesnt have a car that is an unmet need. Second chipotle is not able to deliver so its an unmet need to people who want chipotle. Lastly

3. College students in Gainesville who are lazy or with no form of transportation

4. Well because of the interview process, we know people want chipotle. The second thing we know is how much people are willing to pay extra. That way we can charge them based off of what people are willing to pay extra ($3)

5. CHIPOTLE DELIVERY!!! :D

I believe my company idea is going to really catch on. Many people have a chipotle obsession and if multiple orders are being placed at once, then people will be making a lot of money as a driver based on tips. A driver can pick up 5 bowls and get 3 dollar tip on each one of them. Because of this someone is making $15 an hour give or take just simply picking up peoples chipotle and delivering it. My 5 aspect all make sense because of the interviews I had done.

Interviewing Customers No. 2

My new idea reformed when i finished my first 5 interviews. It seemed too easy to see that most people wanted chipotle delivery systems. Thats why my new idea became a chipotle delivery service. Potle2go.

This time around. I made the questions more narrow with the way they can go. This time, I asked chipotle themed questions on if they would look into my company

How fast would you expect your chipotle?

How much would you pay extra for delivery and tip?

Would you use an app?

Would you buy chipotle with charges?

How would you improve on this service.

This process has gotten much easier now that we have done so many. I know how to confidently go up to anyone and ask them for an interview.

The three tips i would give are
be confident
ask everyone you can
make them feel comfortable

Week 5 Reading Reflection

1) One thing that stood out to me was that there are actually "rules" for securing a patent. I thought honestly that you simply just apply to the patent office and thats it, but these rules are legit!

2) I am confused about the difference between the rights securing ways. Specifically, I mean the difference between patents, copyrights, and trademarks. They all seem to me like you are protecting some kind of property and claiming it rightfully yours, so whats the difference?

3) Two things I would like to ask the author would be, as I just stated, to really explain to me the difference between copyrights, trademarks, and patents. These seem like very important aspects of business law and I would really like to understand those differences. Also, I really would like to ask the author why "trade secrets" cannot be protected as patents, trademarks, or copyrights. That way, I can know how to fully protect my trade secrets in the future.

4) The author says to always trust an attorney about a problem with a mark, but I disagree. Yes, most of the time, it is good to trust the attorney, but sometimes there might be reason not to. Corporate espionage goes far, and the attorney could secretly illegally work for competitors, or have a personal bias against a mark you decide on. So, maybe trust an attorney most of the time, but take his opinion with a grain of salt.

Elevator Pitch No. 1

My opportunity I noticed was people want chipotle delivered and my solution was a delivery company for chipotle.

PotleToGo is the name of my company.
